From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
The entire team are fantastic but I cannot thank Viva in particular enough! She went above and beyond in her professionalism during an extremely difficult time. She was so kind and empathetic, incredibly genuine and respectful of all our wishes based on beliefs etc. I was so anxious and she was constantly reassuring.
I believe if my dad was still here, he would have thanked her himself for how lovely she was towards us!
I am pleased to submit this review for Kelly of Mill Hill who handled my wife's funeral impeccably. Bruce and his colleagues were professional and understanding at all times and guided us through the difficult process in a caring and considerate manner throughout.
The funeral itself was properly coordinated and went to plan as intended. It drew many favorable comments from those who attended which was in no small part thanks to the role Bruce and his team played on the day. My thanks again to all those involved.
Very bright , clean and welcoming branch it’s scary walking into a funeral directors and as soon as I walked in and spoke to viva I felt at ease , comforted and more than happy
to let her and the other staff care for my dad In his final moments .
viva went above any beyond. She was kind , patient and I really
Don’t feel like me and my family could have got through this without her .
Also the kind man with the South African accent (Rodney or rob) was so lovely
Kind and supportive and on the day 2 members of staff (Lindsay and Jason) were absolutely amazing . All staff were great but these 2 stood out to me and my family due to their kindness and Patience during a medical issue with another member of the family .
i went to lots of different funeral homes to get prices and the minute I met viva and the other staff at Kelly’s (there was another lady who was there I think Sarah) the price didn’t even matter I just knew I wanted my dad to be with these kind , warm and special people .
Viva took time to explain the steps , explained certain procedures and policies and make sure I completely understood everything and it was all
Transparent , she was able
To show me the chapel and she assured
Me that whilst my dad was on their care he would be treated with love ,
Respect and dignity and when I had to come in with my young children to see my dad as I didn’t have Child care she sat with them
And Coloured in so I could have personal time with my dad for our last goodbye and I knew my children were in safe hands.
the flowers were also Beautiful and I think they used a company called black and cooks .
I will forever be grateful .
We would like to thank Bruce so much for the care he took for the most perfect funeral and ashes interment for our dad. Everything was arranged carefully, his guidance was very much appreciated and he was extremely responsive throughout.
He and his team made the most awful time a little easier
I would like to thank Lynn, Lance and Bruce for all their efforts in arranging my grandmother’s funeral. They were kind, patient, knowledgeable and sincere and my grandmother’s funeral was beautiful and seamless from start to finish. Even when I went to see my grandmother resting the day before, Lynn and Lance made sure everything was nice for her and consoled me through my grief. I will always be grateful to Kelly of Mill Hill for helping me send my grandmother off so well. Thank you. :)
